Who We Are

Ghana's first Creative Entrepreneurship Hub

Breathing Art Studio is a multidisciplinary platform where creative production, entrepreneurship, research, and cultural dialogue intersect to unlock new opportunities for artists, institutions, and industries.

We position the arts not only as cultural expression, but as a strategic tool for entrepreneurship, diplomacy, innovation, and sustainable development — building ecosystems, not just events.

With over a decade of experience across media, cultural diplomacy, and the creative economy, we connect people, institutions, and ideas in ways that drive collaboration, innovation, and socio-economic transformation.

Founded By

Apiorkor Seyiram
Ashong-Abbey

Poet, media practitioner, and cultural strategist with over a decade of experience working across media, cultural diplomacy, and the creative economy. Creator of The Matriarch's Verse Experience — Ghana's largest solo poetry concert.

01
Our Mission

To empower Ghanaian and African creatives to become sustainable agents of transformation through capacity-building, research, creative production, and wellness-centred development.

02
Our Vision

To shape a new socio-cultural and economic blueprint for African creative entrepreneurship — a permanent sanctuary where creatives can live, work, heal, and grow.

03
Our Values

We are guided by creativity, purpose, and community. We champion collaboration over competition, centering women, youth, and under-resourced creatives. We operate with cultural integrity, honouring African heritage while innovating boldly for the future.

What We Do

Six pillars of creative impact

Creative Entrepreneurship

Artist development, business incubation, and capacity-building that transforms creative talent into sustainable enterprise.

Cultural Productions

Experiential, immersive events that weave poetry, performance, storytelling, music, food, and dialogue into memorable public engagement.

Research & Dialogue

Data, analysis, and cross-sector conversations that inform investment, policy, and practice within the creative economy.

Cultural Diplomacy

International cultural exchange and representation that positions African creative work on the global stage.

Cross-Sector Partnerships

Linking arts with education, health, tourism, sport, and technology to build wider relevance and investment in the creative sector.

Creative Wellness

Mental health support, wellbeing programmes, and safe spaces designed specifically for the unique pressures facing artists and creatives.

What We Solve

Structural challenges we're built to fix

Across Africa, the creative sector faces persistent barriers that limit its growth and sustainability.

Limited creative infrastructure and affordable working and living spaces for artists

Gaps in professional capacity-building and mental health support for creatives

Weak integration of the arts into national conversations on policy, health, tourism, and education

Limited data and research to inform investment and policy decisions within the creative economy

Our Response

"We combine artistic practice, entrepreneurship, research, and cross-sector collaboration to build stronger creative ecosystems — from the ground up."
